PostHeaderIcon KenKen Puzzles – The New Sudoku

You many have just heard of KenKen. It’s the invention of a Japanese math teacher named Tetsuya Miyamoto, who says, “I believe that if you give children good learning materials, they will think and learn and grow on their own.” Imagine that!

KenKen is a brilliant puzzle which takes the logic of a sudoku puzzle, and adds the use of basic arithmetic to make KenKen a truly fascinating challenge on many levels.

But you don’t have to be a math whiz to play KenKen. The rules are truly easy to learn. A typical grid has 16 squares, with four rows and four columns. Just as in sudoku, you must use the digits from one to four in each row and in each column. You cannot repeat a digit in a row or column.

KenKen has the additional trait that some groups of squares are bounded together by a bold border. Within those squares is a number, say 6, and a mathematical operation sign, say a plus (+) sign. That simply means that the digits in those squares must add up to the number 6.

If you’d had the number 15 with a multiplication (x)sign next to it in two squares bordered in bold, you’d know that the digits that go in those squares must multiply to 15.

Simple enough? Yes, it is – even a second grader can start doing KenKen puzzles. That’s how easy it is to begin. But the level of play can get tougher – much tougher.

KenKen can be played on grids of 6×6 squares, or 8×8, or even 9×9 squares.

Filling in the 81 cells of a 9×9 grid can take hours, or days. Or more! Once you start though, you’ll find the time to do KenKen. You won’t be able to stop! Your mind will learn so much logic and arithmetic, without you even noticing.

KenKen is possibly the best brain exercise you ever may try. That’s why you owe it to yourself to check it out. If you are a parent or a teacher, KenKen can become the greatest tool in your educational toolkit to get your child or students interested in math.

KenKen doesn’t feel like math at all – it’s just pure fun.

PostHeaderIcon About the Hangman Game

Games are very important for people, since the Ancient World, contributing to their entertainment. Greeks invented the first games in antiquity and they are those who imagined the Olympic Games, too. Those games were held in honor of living persons, of the gods, some as offerings of thanksgiving.

With the passing of time, people created a lot of games. Nowadays, for example, they are playing on the computer killing monsters and trying to conquer land in order to build towns and capitals.

A very prevalent game continues to be “Hangman”. It was invented sometime during the Victorian era. It was mentioned for the first time in Alice Bertha Gomme’s “Traditional Games” in 1894 and it was named “Birds, beasts and fishes”. Later, in other sources, the game was called “Gallows”, “The Game of Hangin” or “Hanger”.

Like any other game it has rules but they are very simple. A player writes down the first and last letters for an object, animal or plant, and the other player needs to guess the other letters in between. The word to guess is represented by a row of dashes, giving the number of letters. If the guessing player suggests a letter which occurs in the word, the other player writes it in all its correct positions. If the suggested letter does not occur in the word, the other player draws one element of the hangman diagram.

The game is over when:

• The guessing player completes the word, or guesses the whole word correctly

• The other player completes the diagram.

We all know this game because we were used to playing it when we were kids and it is a word game that improves thinking and enriches vocabulary. Its rules are very simple and it is a challenge for each of us to check up our knowledge in a given language.

You can play hangman with animals, hangman with body parts, countries, fruits, girl names or hangman with kitchen tools here: Hangman . Also you can find a place for hangman game reviews here: Hangman reviews.

Sudoku puzzle game is sweeping America and the rest of the world, similar to the type of hold which crossword puzzles had thirty years ago, only faster. You would have probably seen it on advertisements in newspapers, on magazines and newspaper stands or may be your friends and family members are playing it. Even if you do not really understand the name, Sudoku in relation to anything else in the concrete world, yet when you see the playing board, understanding comes pummelling in.

Sudoku puzzle is an intellectually challenging game. It gives the players a sense of satisfaction when they solved the puzzle. This is one of the main reasons why millions of people of all ages around the world are positively addicted to playing Sudoku. It is one of the easiest distractions in life to help us forget the lows of everyday life.

Finding and playing online puzzle Sudoku has been almost a god send for many people, who really enjoy this game of skill and persistence. Playing online puzzle Sudoku has many advantages over simple paper and Sudoku charts.

The most notable benefits of playing online puzzle Sudoku is speed. Playing Sudoku online allows for a constant flow of different charts, rather than having to wait each day for a new chart to come out from the local newspaper. For many people, playing this exciting game more than once a day seems a near necessity. The other choice is to buy a book of puzzles. Again, the number of charts available is very limited. With each puzzle which is solved in a book, a player comes that much closer to running out of charts to keep playing.

You do not have to pay for playing Sudoku puzzle online. It is a simple algorithmic randomizing program which has been used to constantly come up with a new puzzle with each use. Therefore, this creates an infinite number of puzzles which can be solved and without ever again having to pay for a book of puzzles or wait for the next daily newspaper to appear.

Another benefits of playing online puzzle Sudoku is should someone find themselves standing still in the game, or simply stuck, many versions of Sudoku on the internet actually will give hints to the player. While some players may find this anathema to their philosophy of play, others totally appreciate this, as they just need a little help with this challenging game. Many people also view this useful feature as their training tool for improving their skills.

It is no surprise that the internet is now a great source of charts for Sudoku as well as all of the other games which can be found there.
